I've spent years working in accounting and supporting small business owners with their financial operations. Restaurant owners, freelancers, contractors, consultants - people who are great at what they do but did not start a business to spend their evenings dealing with accounting software.
What frustrated me most was watching small business owners pay $80, $100, sometimes $150 a month for software that still felt confusing, cluttered, or built around accountant workflows instead of owner needs.
